ABAA Auditor Requirements & Guidelines for Licensing

Profile

The Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) is an industry leading association that promotes and assists in the design, installation, quality assurance and education of air barriers in commercial buildings and water-resistive barriers in residential homes throughout the United States.

ABAA specified projects require scheduled audits by qualified personnel, and this industry is undergoing rapid growth. Further upcoming code changes are underway, and soon air barriers will be a code requirement. We are currently seeking qualified Field Auditors across the United States to meet these demands.

(Areas in high demand are: Ohio, New York, Illinois, Montana, Wisconsin, Colorado, Utah, and Georgia)

Role and Responsibilities

The role of the Auditor is to perform quality assurance audits of air barrier assemblies on new commercial and institutional construction projects during installation.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Inspect installation and review materials for compliance with specifications, ABAA requirements, and manufacturer requirements
  • Complete audit reports, document audits with photos, and address specific areas which have noted deficiencies and require corrective action(s).
  • Local and out of State travel is anticipated

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A minimum of three years of related experience (construction/inspection/quality assurance) or any equivalent combination of training and experience with working knowledge in the areas of commercial waterproofing, roofing or building envelope experience
  • Ability to review commercial plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook and electronic pictures and files.
  • Completion of the ABAA Auditor 2 day training session to educate auditors on ABAA standards, requirements, materials and audit process.
  • Successfully pass the qualifying certification exam and completion of the licensing process

Conflict of Interest/Exclusions

The ABAA requires that all licensed auditors be impartial 3rd party contract employees. To that end, parties employed by ABAA licensed contractors or ABAA participating manufacturers are ineligible for Auditor licensing. All CV's and résumés will be reviewed by the ABAA QAP Manager to determine candidate eligibility.

Additional Information

For candidates who meet these requirements, ABAA offers flexible working hours and a competitive compensation package.

This position is ideal for those already performing building audits, and can be an excellent added service to your existing company.
