During the two-day seminars, participants will learn the new federally mandated requirements for air barrier systems including critical points of development, testing, & sustainability.
Air Barrier Solutions 2009 will provide design-build contractors with a better understanding of air barrier requirements. Industry leading experts will demonstrate how to successfully implement an effective, airtight barrier into current construction projects. Attendees will learn how to identify major pitfalls that lead to a failed building enclosure and understand the components required for building pressure testing on a large structure. Additionally, a representative from the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Construction Engineering Laboratories (CERL) will be in attendance to instruct on the Air Barrier Performance Requirement and its inclusion in contract requirements.

UPDATE: Audit Frequency Calculation

Attention ABAA Accredited Contractors!
Effective June 1, 2009 the number of site audits required on an ABAA project will be calculated based on the SQUARE FOOTAGE of the Air Barrier Contract (i.e. the total square footage of the air barrier material that is being installed.)
This replaces the previous calculation that was based on the total Air Barrier Contract Dollar value.
The cost per audit remains the same: $1,500 per audit.

New Online Residential Housewrap Overview & Installation Videos

The Housewrap Committee of ABAA has produced 2 videos to assist building officials and design professionals when using Housewrap materials as a water resistive barrier in homes and buildings. The technical video presentation covers the properties of the material and the installation video covers the key installation criteria.
