Introducing a New ABAA Certification Opportunity for Low-rise Multifamily (R2)

December 10, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST

Mike Lubliner, Senior Building Science Specialist with the WSU Energy Program, will discuss 2018 WSEC-R compliance requirements and provide insights that apply when designing multifamily (MF) new construction, additions and remodels.

Mike will introduce a new certification opportunity, which is the culmination of an intensive effort with Dan Auer, Laverne Dalgleish, and other Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) stakeholders.

  • Dan Auer, Project Manager and Supervisor of MF weatherization at King County Housing Authority, employs cost-effective weatherization of MF buildings by managing contractors’ dense packing walls and air sealing existing buildings. The quality control for this work is whole-building blower door tests. Training blower door testers is critical as the retrofit industry grows.
  • Laverne Dalgleish, Executive Director of ABAA, will introduce the new Air Leakage Control Technician Training Course offered by ABAA for those involved with performing air leakage testing of low-rise R2 MF buildings under the WSEC-R.

This ABAA certification training will be offered beginning in January 2022 in Seattle.
